Update from the Chair: President Larry Bacow

President Bacow.JPGThe Talloires Network, in partnership with the MacJannet Foundation, has now announced the winners of the MacJannet Prize for Global Citizenship.  In its inaugural year, the MacJannet Prize generated an enormous amount of interest. It was a pleasure for us to review all of the nominations and learn about the exciting, innovative work that is happening in Talloires Network member institutions around the world. The number and quality of nominations demonstrated that the civic engagement movement within higher education is very strong and truly global. Programs from 19 different countries were nominated. All of them provide excellent models, even as each of them operates in a specific context and addresses particular community needs.

We hope to share the good practices employed by all of these programs, and we especially want to draw attention to the eight programs that received the Prize this year. In the coming months, we will be adding to the MacJannet Prize website additional information on the finalists and winning programs, including videos. I am sure you will enjoy learning more about these programs that embody the civic engagement work that the Talloires Network promotes.
