IMU logoIMU’s Corporate Social Responsibility Program

IMU does not only train knowledgeable and skilful professionals with high ethical standards. The university also prepares students who will be dedicated to serve and improve the quality of life throughout their communities. IMU sets up these opportunities to serve through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program. CSR is structured to integrate and engage all members of the university community, including students, faculty and corporate staff, in service activities. Due to the involvement from all levels of the university, many student organizations have gained the support they need to focus on specific issues in surrounding communities. Such organizations include P.S. the Children (Protect and Save The Children), which provides education and information about child abuse to schools, shelter homes and community centers; Malaysian Medical Relief Society (MERCY MALAYSIA), a medical volunteer relief organization that provides medical and humanitarian services at home and abroad; Rumah Shalom, a home for poor and destitute children that enables them to achieve basic education and develop moral values; and many others. Service Work with NGOsIMU children

During their first year at the university, students are engaged in service activities that benefit various Malaysian NGOs. Community awareness education is incorporated into the curriculum of academic courses to enhance both the knowledge and practice of community service in aspiring medical professionals. Throughout the semester, IMU students coordinate fundraising events, organize promotional campaigns, and provide instructional lessons to members of specific organizations. Upon completion of their service activities, students report on their service work and reflect on what they have gained from their experience. This service-learning initiative began fifteen years ago and continues to assist NGOs in need.
