COV-AID Graduate Student Mini-Grants
The OSUN-TN educational partnership has committed to offering a useful and hopeful response to the unfolding global pandemic, COVID-19. The COV-AID Graduate Student Mini-Grants will publicly recognize and support graduate students at OSUN and/or Talloires Network of Engaged Universities members who are currently adapting or seeking to adapt their community engagement efforts to the challenges presented by COVID-19.
The COV-AID Graduate Student Mini-Grants will bring students associated with engaged universities around the world together to critically reflect on the ways in which they are adapting to changes in, and contributing to civic life. Through the development of an online international community of practice, a diverse coalition of students will share ideas and strategies, form strong and lasting ties, work together to advance and adapt best practices, and cultivate hope during a time of uncertainty.
More specifically, the COV-AID Graduate Student Mini-Grants aim to:
- Identify and publicly recognize graduate students who are working collaboratively with their communities to address social issues;
- Financially support graduate students who are actively contributing to the betterment of society;
- Build an international community of engaged students who have demonstrated such values as solidarity, social responsibility, and collective action;
- Elevate student activities and experience by disseminating the approaches globally; and
- Raise awareness about the public role of universities and strengthen public support for the global civic engagement movement in higher education.
Timeline
The deadline for Graduate Student Mini-Grants Application is 30 November 2020 at 11:59 pm EDT. Selection decisions will be made in December 2020. Grant disbursements will begin as early as January 2021.

Who is eligible?
- Graduate students at Talloires Network and/or OSUN member universities are eligible to apply
- If your university is not yet a member of the Network, you must become a Signatory Member of the Network (there is no fee) by November 20, 2020 to be eligible for the award. There is no limit on the number of applications allowed from each member university.
- Research and/or learning projects and initiatives between member universities and the community in which they are located (e.g., community-based research, action research, applied research projects, service-learning, experiential learning, community organizing and activism, policymaking, public governance, volunteerism).
- Graduate student who have adapted or who would like to adapt their community engagement work to meet the challenges presented by COVID-19.
