Universidad Nacional del Centro de la Provincia de Buenos Aires (UNICE) is an Argentine public university centered in the town of Tandil with units in the nearby towns of Azul and Olavarría.  On October 9, 1974 President Maria Estela Martinez de Peron signed the decree creating UNICEN.  UNICEN was established with the objective of providing public university education for the people of Buenos Aires

The Statutes of the University declare that UNICEN, as an institution of higher education, has the essential mission of developing and spreading universal culture, organizing and providing liberal, scientific, professional, artistic and technical education, promoting research, and striving to complete the training of students with a desired level of ethics and morality. The University seeks to address national problems and particularly those pertaining to the region of the Province of Buenos Aires in which it operates.
