Since 2005, the Talloires Network of Engaged Universities has brought together university leaders, faculty, staff, students, and community partners from around the world to strengthen the civic roles and social responsibilities of higher education.
Our international conferences are movement-building events for participants to exchange ideas, share promising practices, build lasting relationships, and explore how universities can work alongside their communities to address pressing societal challenges. Each gathering reflects the diverse contexts of our global network while advancing a shared commitment to a more just, equitable, and sustainable world.
From our founding conference in Talloires, France, in 2005, to gatherings in Italy (2010), Spain (2011), South Africa (2014), Mexico (2017), the United States (2021 & 2023), and Turkey (2025), we have gathered our members and partners to advance the global university civic engagement movement. These dynamic international exchanges are opportunities to learn from one another and strengthen our common cause - world where universities and communities are working together to build a brighter future for all.

Coming Soon: Talloires Network Leaders Conference in 2027 (TNLC2027)
We are beginning to lay the groundwork for our next international gathering. We envision a convening in Sub-Saharan Africa that elevates the voices and perspectives of our young leaders, celebrates the collective impact of our Engaged Members, and acknowledges the contributions of our internationally elected Steering Committee. The conference is a a global movement-building event. Together, we will shape a path forward for higher education worldwide, ensuring a more just and sustainable world for generations to come.
