Niyana Fikru Amanu

Niyana Fikru is an undergraduate student at Ashesi University majoring in Economics. She is a Mastercard Foundation Scholar and an alumna of the African Leadership Academy (ALA). She is passionate about addressing social problems whose effects have not been recognized by society. She is working on expanding a project that she founded, which aims to provide free tutoring programs for children in her hometown. Niyana has designed a rehabilitation project for South African prisoners in her Original Idea for Development (OID) team and won the ALA 2022 Enterprise-fest. She works to advocate and increase awareness about mental health in Ethiopia. As an education enthusiast, Niyana aspires to work in the education sector and create a curriculum that includes mental wellness classes for schools across Africa.
