Introduction

As part of the For Youth, By Youth movement, learners will hone their abilities to convey powerful personal narratives through storytelling sessions led by Dee-1, an award-winning hip hop artist, educator and activist known for his socially conscious lyrics. Learners will contribute to the transformation of international higher education by illuminating, through storytelling and narrative analysis, the benefits of community-university partnerships for young people, institutions, and societies.

Learners will produce documentary films and case studies that will elevate innovative models of collaboration and impact, while changing assumptions and beliefs about the power and capabilities of young leaders.

The Storytelling workshops curate a space where For Youth, By Youth participants feel celebrated for showing up authentically as themselves and sharing who they are with the world through storytelling. Learners use storytelling as a way to convey and magnify the power of their personal stories for the purpose of showing up more powerfully in their communities, workplaces, and countries. Movement building is an art that takes intentionality, consistency, and direction. The sessions, led by Dee-1, provide a space for learners to use collective stories, passions, and plights to build sustainable solutions to the problems they seek to solve.
