Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (Kenya)
Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) is a public university in Juja, Kenya. Founded in 1981 as a middle level college, the institution was initially named Jomo Kenyatta College of Agriculture and Technology. In 1994, the College was granted full university status and changed its name to Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology (JKUAT). University Community Collaboration Department (UCCD)
Established in 2005 and hosted by the Research Production and Extension (RPE) Division, the UCCD coordinates JKUAT’s corporate social responsibility for the mutual benefit of the University and the surrounding community. Emphases of UCCD include:
- Infrastructure development and maintenance to achieve all weather roads, availability of reliable electricity, provision of adequate water, availability of telecommunication and IT, and construction of solid waste and storm water drainage systems
- Public Health and Personal Hygiene Education
- Human Capacity Development to give life long skills
- Preservation and Conservation of National Heritage and Historic Sites
Institute of Tropical Medicine and Infectious Diseases (ITROMID)
The ITROMID of JKUAT was established in 2001 to train health professionals to meet the needs of people in developing countries. ITROMID is also the coordinating center for all departments engaged in HIV/AIDS activities. Undergraduate programs offered through ITROMID include Public Health, Community Health and Development, and HIV/AIDS Management. Learn more>>
