The American University of Kuwait is a private liberal arts institution in Kuwait City, Kuwait. Established in 2003, the University opened to students, faculty and the general public in September 2004. A sister university to Dartmouth College in the US, AUK currently offers 12 degree programs and enrolls over 1000 students. AUK is dedicated to providing students with knowledge, self-awareness, and personal growth experiences that can enhance critical thinking, effective communication, and respect for diversity. Commitment to Service
Among AUK’s stated values are: self-awareness with a moral and ethical responsibility throughout its learning community, staff commitment to service, and the role of faculty in teaching, scholarship, creative expression and service. Two of the five main focus areas of the Office of Student Life at AUK are Civic Engagement and Diversity/Social Responsibility, and a number of student clubs and activities focus on serving the community. Furthermore, the Office of Outreach and Events provides a variety of opportunities for AUK students such as student learning experiences, volunteer opportunities, and development workshops.
