Beit Berl College (Israel)
Beit Berl College, located in Kfar Sava, Irsael, is one of Israel’s largest teacher training colleges, granting bachelor’s and master’s degrees in several fields of education, as well as in art and in social policy. The College is a multidisciplinary and multi-national institution that serves both Jewish and Palestinian-Arab students. In recent years the college has engaged in various programs and projects dedicated to social changes in general and reducing social tensions through educational activities in particular. These programs include:
- Joint program between the School of Education and the School of Art – Hamidrasha students who chose to live in an underprivileged neighborhood in Kfar Saba and volunteer to perform various activities to benefit the community, in the fields of education, culture and art
- Integration of children with complex developmental disorders into their home community, in cooperation with Beit Issie Shapiro’s institution for special education
- Workforce development workshop to help graduating students with learning disabilities during their internship and prepares them to find employment
- Education and Social Change, focusing on equality and social justice, where participants deal address educational issues in boarding schools, shelters for battered women, non-profit organizations for at-risk youth, etc. (in collaboration with the Academic Institute for Arab Teacher Training)
