HWS CollegesHobart College was founded in 1822, while William Smith College was established in 1908 as one of America’s distinguished liberal arts colleges. The William Smith College was founded adjacent to the Hobart College and the two institutions entered into a coordinated arrangement that is now unique among American colleges. Center for Community Engagement and Service-Learning

 The Center for Community Engagement and Service-Learning at Hobart & William Smith Colleges strives to connect students with volunteer service opportunities on-campus, in the surrounding area, and outside the local region. Through service to others, students gain a better understanding of themselves and the responsibilities of a liberally educated person in today’s society.
