Research Project Title: (Im)mobile Subjectivities of Russian Dissent During the War in Ukraine
This project of engaged artistic research investigates the modes of dissent performed by Russian citizens in the aftermath of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. It explores the connection between (im)mobility and dissent, the complexities of speaking out in different political and cultural settings, as well as the tensions between the less visible forms of dissent and the politics of assembly. It draws on methods of documentary and visual anthropology to ponder the silences and acts of resistance in two distinct sites – Saint Petersburg, Russia, and Tbilisi, Georgia.
