Liaquat National Hospital & Medical College (Pakistan)

The Medical College was established in 2006 with a vision to be a national and international centre of excellence in healthcare, education, research and community development. The Medical College is attached with Liaquat National Hospital which is a 750+ bedded tertiary care hospital which spans an area of 50 acres and was established in 1958 and is the largest private sector not-for-profit healthcare provider. Apart from providing quality healthcare services and producing top quality graduates and post graduates, LNH&MC is actively involved in community services.

Community services undertaken by The Medical College include:

• The Liaquat National Hospital (LNH) administration has pledged to bear the cost of meals for 12 weeks a year of Khana Ghar, a highly subsidized eatery at the outskirts of the city that provides three-rupee meals to the poor.
• LNH has established 6 outreach clinics in lower middle class areas of Karachi and two lab collection points. Medical camps are conducted at these outreach service centers to raise awareness & provide free screening and consultation to the community surrounding these clinics.
• LNH organizes various health awareness programs throughout the year on topic of importance for general public such as Diabetes, Obesity, Breast Cancer, Mental Health, Osteoporosis, Renal diseases and emerging problems such as Dengue Fever, Congo fever, Heat Stroke etc.
• The Department of Social Services at LNH works vigilantly with the patients to assist and help them in solving their financial and social problems.
• Helping Hand Society of LNH&MC is an association of students of the Liaquat National Medical College which works for the betterment of the underprivileged and facilitates them by conducting teaching classes for the children & wives of lower cadre staff of the hospital. They also facilitate the educational journey of the under privileged students of the community, taking the responsibility and paying for their education.
• They organize blood donation camp each year in the medical college and students, teaching staff, administrative staff and faculty members from all over the hospital & college enthusiastically participate.
• Arranges Iftar (Meal) boxes and water bottles in Holy Month of Ramadan & distributes it among the attendants of patients and others within and outside the premises of LNH.
• Undertake collection of funds for poor and deserving patients coming to the hospital.
