The Centre For Entrepreneurship and Small and Medium-sized Entrepreneurs Development (CESMED)

Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM or National University of Malaysia) is a public research university located 35 kilometers south of Kuala Lumpur.

The YEPI program at UKM falls under the coordination of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Small and Medium Enterprise Development (CESMED). UKM established CESMED in 2010 in response to government-sponsored initiatives to bolster small and medium size enterprises throughout Malaysia. The Centre coordinates all entrepreneurship courses and trainings across this large university.

CESMED

CESMED participates in the Youth Economic Participation Initiative through a program called “Developing Shared Service-Learning to Support Graduate Transformation and SME Development.” This program has two components. One focuses on basic entrepreneurship training for undergraduate students. The second is a “Finishing School” training that enhances technical and business skills. This classroom training includes three tracks: Technocount (accounting), Netpreneur (online marketing), and Adtalent (human resource development).

Through support from the Youth Economic Participation Initiative, CESMED has been able to increase their collaboration with other engaged universities in the region:  University of Malaysia Kelantan, National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan, and Informatics Business Institute in Dharmajaya, Indonesia.
