Beaconhouse National University (BNU) is a private, liberal arts university based in Lahore, Pakistan. BNU is the first liberal arts university in Pakistan and was established in 2003 with the goal of “imparting education with a modern and rational course content while ensuring that the history and culture of Pakistani society are respected.” BNU has several different community programs including Tarogil Community Outreach Initiative, the Alipur Project, Resetting the Indus (RTI) Project, Hamari Basti Project and Incremental Public Housing Initiative. Hamari Basti Workshop
Professor Dr. Brigitte Wolf designed a 10 day workshop during which students researched the lives of Mian Mir Colony, a neighborhood of Lahore, to determine unfulfilled business needs. Students then developed new business models for services and retail opportunities.
