Biography

Harunah Damba, Makerere University (Uganda)

Harunah is the founder of United Persons with Disabilities (UPWDs) – a disabled peoples’ organization (DPO) in Bweyogerere Parish, Wakiso District in Uganda. The organization has grown to be of social impact tackling community development and empowerment. In his early career, Harunah served as a Guild Representative Councilor (GRC), and minister for students with disabilities at Makerere University (2018/19); the experience that catapulted his leadership career – from decision-making and problem-solving to creating leadership networks. Harunah holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Laboratory Technology from Makerere University. He is an avid reader and researcher, and is passionate about creating ties to address societal problems.
