Women in Technology, Effat University (Saudi Arabia)
Program overview:
Effat University’s Women in Technology (WIT) Program is designed for the purpose of empowering underprivileged women and improving their employability skills through quality computer literacy and soft skills training. With serious national efforts undertaken by the Saudi government to increase women’s participation in the workforce, the WIT Program comes as a support mechanism to combat the rising numbers of jobless women through hands-on technical and vocational skills enhancement training. The program aims to create a solid base of professionally independent women with strong technical and generic skills and professional competencies. The skills-based approach of the training program focuses on equipping participants with the abilities that are most in-demand by employers across different job roles. Throughout the history of the program, the University has partnered with major national and international entities to support the program in achieving its vision. These include Microsoft, Human Resources Development Fund, the Gulf International Bank, among others. Recently, the University has broadened the scope of the program to include other modules focusing on improving emerging skills demanded by the current workforce.
