Emprende UV

Universidad Veracruzana (UV) is a public university enrolling more than 70,000 students across five campuses in the state of Veracruz, Mexico. UV has a long history of public service and civic engagement, motivated in part by a Mexican government policy requiring all students to complete 400 hours of community service to graduate.

The Youth Economic Participation Initiative supports four strategies for promoting entrepreneurship at the Universidad Veracruzana:

  • Emprende UV Entrepreneurship Training
  • Commercialization of research results
  • Employment readiness
  • Cross-sector collaboration for informing state policy

The “Emprende UV” program provides entrepreneurship training for UV students, staff and community members, as well as support for transformative teaching and learning practice among faculty and staff.

In doing so, the UV General Engagement Department has facilitated links among academics, local communities, and state actors. Emprende UV works to inculcate the attitude that entrepreneurship is about more than business – it is a mindset of innovation, an attitude of embracing change, and a willingness to take risks.
