Universidad Central de Venezuela is a premier public university located in Caracas. Founded in 1721 as a Catholic university, it is the oldest university in Venezuela and one of the oldest in the Western Hemisphere. In 1826, the university took its current name and became a secular, public institution. Today, UCV consists of nine faculties and has a student enrollment of over 50,000. Extension at UCV
Under Venezuela’s 2005 Law on Community Service for Higher Education Students, university students must complete at least 120 hours of community service, and universities are responsible for providing outreach and extension programs for the students to fulfill this requirement.
