Sindh Agriculture University (Pakistan)

Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) Tandojam, Sindh, Pakistan was established in 1977 by upgrading the then Sindh Agriculture College established in 1938 with the main objective of providing the qualified manpower in agricultural and animal sciences. The university includes 35 degree awarding departments, the Information Technology Centre, the Institute of Food Sciences and Technology, and one constituent college. The university has a total enrollment of 7000 students mainly from rural areas of Sindh province. These students are supported through need-based scholarships and fee waivers. Farmers’ Advisory Services

The Farmers’ Advisory Services Cell of the university extends services for enhancing crop productivity to the small farmers mainly belonging to remote areas and locations with the purpose of community driven development and social service. The cell also acts as interface for outreach program of the university as a civic engagement with all stakeholders and society large including farmers, relevant industries, government departments, NGOs, alumni, print and electronic media, and fellow researchers.

SAU Community Development

SAU is working in collaboration with many agencies and donors that are providing financial and other support for community development. Examples of community development include literacy programs, nursery development and reforestation projects, pure seed multiplication and supply to farming community for food security, sustainable agricultural practices and socioeconomic uplift for rural communities, flood rehabilitation work, and skill development of community in diverse disciplines.
