The Center for Civic Engagement

The Center for Civic Engagement provides dedicated infrastructure and leadership to community oriented initiatives.  The mission of the Center is to promote a culture of civic engagement on campus preparing students to be civic leaders in their community. This is accomplished by working collaboratively to facilitate opportunities to bring learning to life while generating positive community impact. Focused effort is invested in course based community engagement, alternative break service opportunities, Community Involvement Fairs, Day of Service events, disaster relief trips, voter engagement drives, and other initiatives. Programming and outreach are informed by a Community Advisory Board that provides invaluable feedback in fostering reciprocal, mutually beneficial partnerships.  Learn more here.

Leadership Suites Initiative

Leadership Suites are a signature initiative of a Student Leadership Center dedicated to inspiring student civic engagement and leadership development. The purpose of this effort is to provide a clear pathway for uninvolved students to encounter civically engaged students, witness a diversity of causes and projects, and be inspired to involvement. This dedicated student space is awarded through a competitive process to the most civically engaged student organizations. Emerging Pioneer Leadership Program

This leadership program is focused on the idea that effective leadership involves knowledge of oneself, the ability to collaborate, and commitment to accomplishing positive change for others and the larger community.  The program consists of three levels- Blue, Gold, and Pioneer- all of which incorporate a strong mentoring component, workshops, and experiential, community oriented projects focused on identifying and addressing community challenges.
