Istanbul 2025: For Youth, By Youth International Conference

Vision:
The first year of the For Youth, By Youth movement in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation symbolizes a new chapter of the Talloires Network and coincides with the Network’s 20th Anniversary. The proposed theme for the gathering, “Conscious Leadership and Global Solidarity,” takes into consideration the vital role of youth as the leaders of our growing global movement. This gathering will be designed by young people and will celebrate the history of the Network while creating a dynamic environment to nurture and recognize the aspirations and contributions of youth. In September 2005, the Talloires Network was formed by a group of 29 university rectors, presidents, and vice-chancellors. Today, as we build the For Youth, By Youth movement, we honor the evolution of the Talloires Network and reaffirm our commitment to empowering young leaders worldwide. Alumni of the Next Generation Leaders program and the inaugural For Youth, By Youth cohort, along with other key stakeholders, will gather to forge lasting relationships, exchange ideas and knowledge, and articulate their vision for the future of socially responsible higher education.

Proposed Objectives:

• Reflect and Celebrate: Reflect upon the history and growth of the Talloires Network and the significant contributions of youth to the Network; consider how the Network has evolved and what role young people will have in deciding its strategic direction
• Foster Collaboration: Provide a platform for alumni of the Next Generation Leaders program, the inaugural For Youth, By Youth cohort, and key stakeholders to connect and collaborate; the gathering will foster a close bond among participants and enable us to articulate goals for the future of our global movement
• Inspire Action: Encourage participants to envision new possibilities for youth engagement and leadership in their communities by thinking about the next steps in their For Youth, By Youth journey
