Service Learning at PUJ
Service Learning programs have had a wide trajectory at Javeriana University. Most of the Academic Programs include this type of program as part of its curriculum. Since February 2000, this service started to be offered. The Advising Social Management and Social Internship Office coordinates a number of projects that reinforce values and solidarity among the students.
Service Learning Programs usually involve the relocation of the student to another region of the country for a period that goes from four to five months. Funding for housing and other expenses is provided, and students get university credit for participating. Some of the projects include providing computer training in rural communities, promoting peaceful conflict resolution, city planning, and refugee humanitarian assistance.
