Universiti Sains Malaysia (Science University of Malaysia) is a public university with its main campus situated in Penang, Malaysia. Founded in 1969, USM now has a student enrollment of over 30,000 and is one of the biggest universities in Malaysia. USM was founded to focus on research and teaching in the fields of Pure Sciences, Applied Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Building Science and Technology, Social Sciences, Humanities and Education. Division of Industry and Community Network
To foster closer, effective, meaningful and sustainable linkages and partnerships with the industry and the community outside Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), a new division, the Division of Industry & Community Network (BJIM) was established within the Chancellory in September 2007. The BJIM’s mission is to engage closely with industry and the community, especially of the North and North Eastern Regions of Peninsular Malaysia, in as many areas as possible so as to achieve the vision of contributing towards and leading in the sustainability of the social and economic development, advancement and transformation of the nation.
The BJIM runs projects in collaboration with industry and community groups. It hosts educational workshops and outreach projects for youth and adults in areas such as health, job skills, technology, and environmental sustainability.
