Dr. D.Y. Patil University is a private university in Pune, India. It was founded in 2003 by Dr. D.Y. Patil, a prominent educator and philanthropist with a particular interest in education and health care. Extension Activities
One of the elements of Dr. D.Y. Patil University’s vision is “to undertake extension activities with a view to bringing about holistic development of the adjoining rural areas.” Each college and institute engages with and serves the community. For example, the Medical College operates a Rural Health Training Centre and an Urban Health Training Centre, as well as providing free diagnostics and screenings, preventative care, and health education programs for the disadvantaged. The Dental College provides free or low-cost services to poor communities.
