Effat University was founded in 1999 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia as the first Saudi university for women. Effat University is named after Her Royal Highness Queen Effat, wife of King Faisal. The University aims to bring academic excellence to local women and become a community resource for future generations in their quest for progress and self-development. Extension at Effat University
The Extension Programs’ vision is to become the gateway of the community to international standard lifelong learning opportunities and a unique provider of initiatives to create community leaders. This is done through developing and sustaining partnerships with leading academic and professional institutions nationally and internationally to achieve the final purpose of creating leading individuals who are equipped with the suitable skills and education that can contribute to the advancement of their community. Student Service Activities and Organizations
The Department of Student Affairs complements the academic program of studies at Effat University and enhances the overall educational experience of students through development, exposure and participation in diverse social, multi-cultural, intellectual, recreational, group development, leadership and community service programs. Among the student groups working on community service activities are the Active Youth Club, dedicated to being active members of society, and the At’aa Club, which raises money for charity. Queen Effat Citizenship Award (QECA)
Of the university’s efforts to encourage effective citizenship, Effat University has a yearly award which recognizes outstanding student of academic and personal merit. The QECA winner has several privileges and also acts as the voice of the students in making recommendations on behalf of the Student Committee and student body to the College Council.
