Parami University Civic Engagement

  1. Service Learning: Students pursuing a bachelor’s degree are required to complete a minimum of 100 hours of service learning. This not only encourages students to apply their academic knowledge to practical skills but also empowers them with a sense of civic responsibility. We have numerous partner organizations, including local NGOs, CSOs, and academic institutions, involved in research, policy, education, women’s empowerment, environmental issues, politics, and more. Students are assigned a mentor at the host organization who guides them through a meaningful and impactful service learning experience.
  2. Student Clubs: To develop students’ leadership skills, build peer networks, and engage with issues they care about, Parami University promotes student clubs and activities. As of September 2024, there are 14 student clubs that focus on debate and public speaking, social issues, data alliance, environmental protection, mental health, and more. While most activities are conducted virtually, as we are an online institution, students occasionally organize in-person events in collaboration with their club members.
  3. Student-led Projects: As part of our civic engagement plan, we provide students with direct funding from the university or indirect support through grants and our partner network to lead projects that address problems in their communities. This approach allows students to apply their knowledge practically, gain leadership and project management skills, and nurture their active citizenship spirit. Past projects have included promoting environmental awareness, supporting youth access to higher education, media literacy, data for impact, peacebuilding, and development.
