Beti Mekonen

Beti Mekonen is a Mastercard Scholar and emerging legal professional passionate about corporate and international law. Currently pursuing an LLM in International Law at the University of Pretoria, she holds a Bachelor of Arts Law and Psychology (Cum Laude) and Bachelor of Law (LLB). Beyond academics, Beti actively engages in mentorship, education, and human rights advocacy, with experience as a Bursary Support Officer, Academic Associate, and Student Attorney. A fellow of the Amahoro Coalition, Beti is committed to empowering refugees and marginalized communities. With over seven years of tutoring experience, she is dedicated to education accessibility and youth development. Fluent in Amharic, proficient in English, and intermediate in Afrikaans, she values diversity, ethical leadership, and social impact. Beti is driven by the belief that law and education are powerful tools for change, and she aspires to contribute to global legal frameworks that uphold justice and inclusion.
