Lucky Geluk
Lucky is a Gallagher Foundation scholar and UNESCO student collaborator for open education through the DOT4D fellowship, currently studying Organizational Psychology and Afrikaans at the University of Cape Town. She is passionate about education, mental health, and storytelling as vehicles for social transformation. Her work includes research, mentorship, and advocacy, including currently co-authoring pieces on open education to raise awareness about youth mental health as a former Miss Teenager South Africa semi-finalist.
Having experienced the stigma and systemic gaps in Tuberculosis (TB) care firsthand, she is deeply committed to humanising healthcare through advocacy rooted in lived experience. She believes in community-driven solutions inspired by the principles of Ubuntu, equity, and active participation for the empowerment of communities. Through the FYBY movement, she aims to promote awareness of mental wellness, community-driven support, and innovative solutions for TB patients, focusing on reintegration and reducing isolation.
