Tyobo Harriet Yake

Tyobo Harriet Yake is a student pursuing a BSc in Biomedical Engineering at Makerere University. She is passionate about innovation and has actively participated in programs such as Makerere-Duke Engage and the Global Health Design Collaboration. Tyobo is currently conducting research with Makerere University’s College of Health Sciences, working on a frugal surgical fracture table for low-resource countries.

She has served as a Makerere University Guild Representative Councilor (GRC) and Minister for Students with Disabilities in the 90th student government, serving over 160 students with disabilities. Prior to this, she served as the 89th GRC for Mary Stuart Hall, supporting over 300 female students. On the national level, she was nominated as the 34th Delegate for Students with Disabilities at the Uganda National Students Association (UNSA). Tyobo’s life mission is to bring transformation to the world through advocacy, civic engagement, and technological innovations, with a strong focus on women and people with disabilities.
